What to do when a Chromebook has only a black screen.

If your Chromebook appears to be on (the power button is illuminated) but the screen remains black, follow these steps to quickly reset it and get back to normal.

1. Hold down the power button until the Chromebook restarts. (This may take up to 30 seconds in certain cases.) If this does not work, proceed to step 2.

2. Hold down the reset key on the keyboard and press (do not hold down) the power button once.

The Chromebook should reset and restart as normal. If neither of these steps resolve the issue, please reach out to the IT helpdesk for additional support.
